The Maldives was unlike anywhere we’ve been before. We stayed on the small island of Meeru where you can walk from one end to the other in approximately 10 minutes and do a complete lap of the island in about 40 minutes.
The sea was the most amazing colour I’ve ever seen and it was all we could see as we made our way to Meeru on an hour long boat ride which really gave us a sense of being in the middle of nowhere for our week long stay.
At night we would watch the sea life swim around our water villa thanks to the conveniently placed light shining from the bottom of our balcony into the water. I was hoping to see a turtle at some point and we were lucky enough to see one casually swim past one night.
We also spotted a heron relaxing by the pool. I have a bit of an obsession with Herons. I’m not a wildlife photographer but I love taking photos of them.
We were so relaxed throughout our honeymoon, we almost forgot to try snorkelling. Thankfully, we gave it a go on our last full day and we wish we had tried it earlier because, although we didn’t see a huge range of fish, what we did see was amazing. It almost felt like we were in another world at times, such was the beauty of fish we saw.
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time on our honeymoon and we would absolutely love to come back one day.
